Voltenara Energy began with our own experiences of visiting Iraq during the summer.
For hours at a time, there would be no national electricity. Private generators provided some power, but the limited supply was often not enough to operate air conditioning.
During the hottest parts of the day, we would have to wait for the national grid to return before we could cool the house.

This was more than an inconvenience. It showed us how unreliable electricity affects everyday life—how people sleep, work, study and care for their families during Iraq’s extreme summer heat.
